Local Parks & Gardens

Osterley Park And House

Jersey Rd, Isleworth TW7 4RB, UK – 020 8232 5050

On a sunny day this is the place to be. If you have a dog, then it's going to love it too. Bring your kids along so that they can run around and experience nature like it should be. If you like running, then run in this park and it will be the best run you have ever had. The house is full of history and the lovely volunteers who conduct tours will take you through the story of the residents. Did you know some scenes of Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was shot in Osterley house? It was Batman's house. Time to visit the house and watch the move again. The place has a couple of artificial and natural lakes around. You get to see some cows and horses grazing too. You wouldn't believe such a place existed in London. But if you have been to Richmond park then this is just a trailer for you. National Trust is doing a really good job at maintaining the House and its surroundings.

I went with a group of fellow members of the National Trust, our local Hastings branch. We were welcomed by a member of staff and given timed tickets to enter the house in small groups. The objects and decor on view gave us an insight to the way the owners over the centuries lived. Out in the gardens and lakes gave us a very varied view of the different and wonderful insight to the previous owners expertise. Well worth a visit so near to Central London. An American visitor asked why they had built the house so near to Heathrow airport .

Kneller Gardens

Meadway, Twickenham TW2 6PH, UK – 020 8891 1411

Great park for all ages. Well looked after with tennis courts, children's play area, keep fit machines, cafe and easy access to Crane Park.

Our favourite local park. Two playgrounds with something for all ages, outdoor gym, tennis court, basket ball court, kiosk for coffee, sandwiches, ice cream etc, toilets, the river Crane with ducks, green space for football etc.

Osterley House

Isleworth TW7 4RB, UK – 020 8232 5050

Impressive old pile attributed to the renowned Robert Adam set in period garden in tranquil and pleasant surrounds. A dapple of woodlands, grasslands, a picturesque pond and some especially noteworthy veteran trees complete a quintessential stately setting. The ubiquitous cafe, here set in the original stables, is particularly atmospheric and noteworthy.

Spent a lovely afternoon at Osterley. The house is very interesting and the additional tour upstairs is really worthwhile taking. As with all NT properties the Cafe served good wholesome food. Extra interest here is the Second Hand Bookshop.
